Research Proposal Writing Tips (Applicable for MEXT and All other Scholarship)
Hello friends I'm a Transportation Researcher and as a researcher I wrote several research proposals during my Master's and for PhD interviews, specially for MEXT and IIT admission.
So, I was thinking to share my views on research proposal writing. This year many Graduate students are applying for MEXT and don't know how to write it. Here some tips that I think is effective in writing but you can make it different according to your wish as it isn't the final one.
1. Give a Topic Tittle:
It should be related to your topic on which you want to work. Try to fit the tittle within two lines (Maximum). Try to make it concise.
2. Preamble / Introduction:
Give a short introduction about your topic. What is your topic about., how it helps different country people. What its contribution in society.
3. Feasibility of your research study in Japan:
Write down, how your study can improve Japan. or what your research will contribute to the modern world and society. You should do some literature about Japan, their culture, technology and try to correlate your research with it. If possible then add some statistics too. Adding some Statistics illustrates that you have done a really good literature on Japan to find out the research gap.
4. a) Study Methodology:
Then state your study methodology. It is a detailed description of your work. If you are applied for master's and if you get selected then how you will start your research and manage it, so that it would get complete within stipulated time.
You can state by semester wise or year wise describing section by section but I think it should be clear and brief. Don't describe to deep.
4. b) Final Paragraph:
Write down a final Paragraph stating how much it benefits the society and if you have selected some institutes then why they should consider your research?. Try to tell them about your imagination and positive things, that makes you the best candidate for the scholarship
5. References:
If you have referred some journals then put all your referred journals, article names at this section and refer it to the sentence end in the main body with this symbol [i] or (i), where, "i" is the Reference number. Try to arrange references first as per alphabetical order and then as per year, like 2016 then 2015 and so on.
Well, some student adds graphs, bar chart. Yes you can also do that but please avoid adding to many unnecessary thing. Write it down in clear and formal way, so that your proposal can makes a better impression on the selection board.
Hoping it will help everyone. Best of Luck.
